Industria Farmaceutica Galenica Senese was founded in Siena in 1949 thanks to the desire and commitment of two pharmacists who pursued their entrepreneurial idea by creating a small production site within the city's ancient walls.
In the 1980s the company, which had meanwhile expanded, was moved to a new facility on the hills of Monteroni d'Arbia, where it is still based today.
In 1985 it was acquired by the SVAS group, now SVAS Biosana, owned by the Neapolitan family headed by Francesco Fausto Perillo, a market leader in the medical devices sector.
Industria Farmaceutica Galenica Senese is currently headed by Dr Danila Antonia Perillo and her daughter, Dr Maria Allegra Trusso.
